The purpose of this study is to clarify the current situation and actual conditions of children of foreign nationalities in Fukuoka City. The "Research and Study on the Internationalization of Childcare"compiled by the Japan Childcare Association in 2008,highlighted that local governments have not been able to keep up with the number of foreign children enrolled in their daycare centers, the prospects for solving problems in accepting and caring for foreign children should be examined based on the characteristics of the region.Analyzing the questionnaire survey on foreign children, conducted in 2019,in 278 nursery schools belonging to the Fukuoka City Childcare Association,it was found that the percentage of foreign children enrolled in nursery schools in Fukuoka City is higher than the national average, with children of Chinese nationality accounting for the overwhelming majority among them..In light of this finding,we focus on the issues related to language among the considerations provided by nursery schools and discuss the future prospects.
