In recent years, wearable cameras have been increasingly used in educational settings. We conducted an exploratory study to determine the kind of learning that takes place when a childcare provider’s subjective view videos are watched via a wearable camera in a mock childcare lesson. In addition, the possibility of utilizing wearable cameras in mock childcare lessons was considered. Therefore,we analyzed the descriptions of students who observed the subjective viewpoint video of a childcare provider using a wearable camera. We also examined the relevance of the descriptions of these student observers to the descriptions of students observing the childcare provider from other positions. The results suggest that observing from a subjective viewpoint tends to focus attention on the performance of childcare providers. Thus, the use of wearable cameras in mock childcare lessons can be an effective tool when the goal is to learn about the performance of childcare providers.
